[Prosthetics]  overcontoured abutment

Hello drs,

I received this custom abutment back from the lab. To me it looks over-contoured and encroaching into the biological width. What are your thoughts on this?

I am sending it back to the lab for adjustment.

I appreciate your comments.

regards

Keyhan

Hi Keyhan,

your placement was spot on.  Did you do it immediately or was it staged?   When you have time, please post more before and during images and more info about the case.  Our bites members would benefit too from seeing the entire case.  What program did you use to "draw" your ideal abutment design?   I agree with dr Kwon in that your drawn abutment is a much better shape.  Nowadays, I take vertical BW as well as PA at insert appointment.  At Impression appointment , I take vertical BW of fixture and healing cap and PA with impression coping.

What implant is that?   Straumann BLT 3.3?   Walls look pretty thin at connection.

A vertical BW best in order to properly assess abutment and crown contour.

Dear Keyhan,

i 100% agree w you.

Yes it is over-contoured and sure to lose bone in near future.

Unfortunately even the best technicians dont have access to xrays.

Send that xray and explain, he/she will appreciate your guidance.
